Netters Bow Out at Regionals

SAN MARCOS, Texas ---- Northeastern State's women's tennis team run in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional came to an end as St. Edward's University picked up a 5-1 victory at the Bobcat Tennis Center here Friday.

The Hilltopper's used a dominating performance in the doubles portion of the match to open up a 3-0 lead.  At #1, the team of Audrey Tompkins and Regina DelBosque cruised to a 8-3 victory over Zuzanna Osinska and Emina Spirtovic.  Mary Bain and Elizabeth Jacobi defeated Karolina Cichon and Michaela Romanova 8-2, while Heather Brien and Alexandra Henry blanked Agata Skorupska and Claire Chaney 8-0.

St. Edward's picked the other two points needed at #4 and #6 singles as Jacobi defeated Romanova 6-3, 6-4 and Henry defeated Chaney 6-1, 6-0. 

Northeastern State picked up its only point at #5 singles as Skorupska defeated Brien 6-2, 6-0.

The RiverHawks close the 2009 campaign at 19-4.
