RiverHawks Blank Bearcats

SAN MARCOS, Texas ---  The Northeastern State University women's tennis team rolled to a convincing 5-0 victory over Northwest Missouri State in the first round of the NCAA Division II Regional held at the Bobcat Tennis Complex here Thursday afternoon.

 

Zuzanna Osinska and Emina Spirtovic picked up the first point for the RiverHawks with an easy 8-2 victory over Northwest's Veronica Castilla and Jordan Lipira 8-2 at #1 doubles.  Karolina Cichon and Michaela Romanova cruised to an 8-3 victory over Northwest's Erika Leston and Lisa Pendrak.  The #3 team of Agata Skorupska and Claire Chaney had to work a little harder pulling out a grueling 7-5 victory in the tie break to take the match 9-8 over Lina Gomez and Allison Wulff.

 

Northeastern State only need to win two matches during the singles competition and Spirtovic came through with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Pendrak and Chaney cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

 

The RiverHawks improve to 19-4 on the year and will meet host St. Edward's University at 10:00 a.m. on Friday with a spot in the NCAA II National Tournament on the line.
