RiverHawks Headed to NCAA Tournament
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. --- Northeastern State (OK) has qualified for next week's NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championships. The RiverHawks, 18-4 overall, are part of the South Central Regional No. 2 bracket, hosted in San Marcos, Texas, by St. Edward's University (14-6). The other two teams in the bracket include Central Oklahoma (12-7) and Northwest Missouri State (13-4).
Northeastern State will take on NW Missouri in one semifinal at noon on Thursday, May 7, with UCO and St. Edward's pairing up in the other match earlier in the day at 9 a.m.. Winners advance to the title round at 10 a.m. Friday, May 8, and the champion qualifies for the National Tournament in Altamonte Springs, Fla., May 13-16. The regional will be held on the campus of Texas State University.
The other South Central Regional will be hosted by Lone Star Conference champion Abilene Christian University. ACU (23-5) will meet Washburn (12-3), while Tarleton (12-5) faces Incarnate Word (14-4).
This will be the 11th consecutive time the RiverHawks have qualified for the NCAA Tournament. Last year, Northeastern State bowed out to Abilene Christian in the regional finals despite posting a 20-4 mark.
