ACU Wins LSC Title
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. --- Abilene Christian won two doubles matches, then picked up three singles points to earn a 5-1 win over Northeastern State in the Lone Star Conference Tennis Championships here Saturday.
ACU advances to the regional tournament in two weeks, while the RiverHawks should receive an at-large bid when the NCAA Division II Tournament field is announced next week.
Northeastern State's lone win came at No. 3 doubles when Michaela Romanova and Karolina Cichon earned an 8-4 win. The Wildcats logged an 8-4 victory at No. 1 doubles and an 8-6 decision at No. 2 to take a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.
Julia Mongin and Dina Pavlin were 6-0, 6-0 winners at Nos. 2 and 3 singles over Emina Spirtovic and Ivana Belejova, respectively. Hannah Kelley's 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles over the RiverHawks' Claire Chanay ended the match.
Northeastern State is 13-4 on the season.
