Boswell, Standout Against Newman

Player of the Game:  Sadé Boswell     Newman 2-1 Win

The situation for the Riverhawk's squad this season is the same every game, must-win. To win, you need to score more goals than the other team by the end of regulation. The half of the equation that involves not getting scored on is often the most statistically thankless job on the field. Despite allowing a goal late in the game, the defensive heroics of Sadé Boswell boosted the Riverhawks to their 8th win Thursday. Early in the game Boswell was saddled with an interesting yellow card call from the referee, and for most this would mean they have to be careful so as to not pick up another card (and subsequent ejection). But Boswell's position doesn't allow for soft tackling or hesitant defending, so despite carrying a caution the spritely defender carried the Riverhawk's defensive effort on her shoulders. Against a quality Newman offense, Boswell stifled player after player with her speed in closing down marks, timely tackling, and clutch pass interceptions.  Look for more of #29's dominant defending as the Riverhawk's continue their campaign to climb regional rankings.
