Wooten Inks Four Newcomers

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. --- Northeastern State signed four freshmen to National Letters of Intent in the sport of Women's Soccer.

Head coach Chase Wooten's 2011 class includes Paige McRorey, Sydney Villarreal, Ashley LeRoy and Morgan Hoerth, all from Texas.

“I could not be more excited about this small, but talented recruiting class at NSU in 2011," said Wooten. "We are bringing in only a few players, but players who are very athletic and are expected to make an impact."

A LITTLE INFORMATION ABOUT THE RIVERHAWKS' SIGNEES

McRorey is a midfielder from South Grand Prairie High School. She played club soccer for the Sting Soccer Club. Wooten says, "I have watched Paige for two years and she is a difference-maker. She should do a good job for us out wide in the midfield in 2011."

Villarreal is a forward from Klein Oak High School and play club soccer for Challenge. Wooten says, "Sydney has great speed and is a good finisher. She should cause teams problems with her pace and work ethic. She is technically solid and should earn good minutes next season on top or in the midfield."

LeRoy ia a forward/midfielder from Klein Collins High School and also played club soccer for Challenge. Wooten says, "I have been watching Ashley for a couple of years and have seen her really grown and develop into a well-rounded player. She gets up and down the field well and has good speed. She should do well for us in the attacking midfield or withdrawn forward where she can see the field in front of her and control the tempo."

Hoerth is a defender from Coppell High School and played club soccer for FC Dallas. Wooten says, "Morgan is a good ball winner and very aggressive. She is a solid defender that is willing to mix it up physically."

MORE FROM THE COACH'S PERSPECTIVE

"I think this group will blend in very well with the talent we have returning," said Wooten. "This combination should help our program grow and become regional and national contenders. I am truly looking forward to August to see where the returnees and these four newcomers can lead us during the 2011 season."
