LSC Opener a Defensive Battle

ADA, Okla. --- Northeastern State opened Lone Star Conference play on the road with a 1-1 tie at East Central on Tuesday afternoon.

Rachel Sordahl chipped a goal over the ECU keeper just 35 seconds into the match and the Tigers converted a penalty kick at 14:01 for the only scoring in the match.

Northeastern State ran its record to 4-1-2 overall and 0-0-1 in league play, while East Central went to 4-2-2 and 0-0-1.

The RiverHawks had 11 shots, but only three were on goal on the windy afternoon in Ada. ECU got off 15 shots, nine on goal and eight of those saved by Northeastern State keeper Deb Hill.

LSC action will continue for Northeastern State this weekend with a 4:00 p.m. match in Tahlequah on Friday, Oct. 1, against Midwestern State and a 2:30 p.m. home match on Sunday, Oct. 3, against Abilene Christian.
