Wooten, RiverHawks Earn Victory

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. --- Jennifer Clark's goal in the 79th minute proved to be the difference as Northeastern State blanked Missouri Southern, 1-0, Friday in the season opener for both schools.

The win came in Chase Wooten's debut as head coach of the RiverHawks as his team improved to 1-0 on the year. MSSU fell to 0-1.

Clark accepted a cross from Sibonet Quinones on the left side of the goal and beat reserve keeper Ashley Bechtold for the game-winner at the 78:27 mark. It was Clark's only shot on goal during the afternoon.

The RiverHawks had 10 shots and its defense limited the Lions to only six tries. Deb Hill gathered in three saves in goal to record the shutout.

Northeastern State will begin a lengthy road swing at Northwest Missouri on Sunday and won't return for a home match until Sept. 21.
