RiverHawks Nip Rattlers

SAN ANTONIO, Texas --- Four games into the season, Northeastern State remains unbeaten after Carina Martinez found the net in the 87th minute Sunday in a physical 1-0 win over St. Mary's.

Martinez's unassisted goal at the 86:40 mark was the game's only goal as the RiverHawks improved to 3-0-1. STMU fell to 1-3.

Northeastern State keeper, Deb Hill, logged nine saves on the day and earned her third shutout in four tries. She has allowed only one goal this season.

The RiverHawks had seven shots on goal, including two each from Martinez, Jennifer Clark and Katie Valdez. Rachel Sordahl, who scored four goals on Friday, was held to just two shots, one of which was on target.

Northeastern State will conclude its lengthy road swing at Drury on Sept. 17 before hosting Harding on Sept. 21 at the RiverHawk Pitch in Tahlequah.
