Second Half Struggles

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. --- Midwestern State scored three second-half goals to beat Northeastern State 3-1 in Lone Star Conference action Friday afternoon.

The loss dropped the RiverHawks to 4-2-2 overall and 0-1-1 in league play. MSU improved to 7-1 and 2-0.

Maddie Fraser connected on back-to-back goals over a seven minute span to put control firmly on the side of the Mustangs. Her first tally came at the 55:15 mark on a header from Jordan Smith's cross. The duo combined on another score at 62:15 to put MSU on top 2-0.

Katie Valdez converted a free kick from the 25-yard line in the 66th minute to give the RiverHawks hope. However, Midwestern added an insurance goal in the 79th minute to put the game away.

Northeastern State will take on Abilene Christian at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in another LSC encounter at the RiverHawks' Pitch.
