Southwestern Drops RiverHawks
TAHLEQUAH, OKLA. - Southwestern State's Korey Hearn scored at 33:01 of the first half and the Bulldogs defeated the Northeastern State University women Friday in a Lone Star Conference match at the RiverHawks' pitch.
The RiverHawks fall to 4-7-1 and 1-4-1 in LSC play. Southwestern improves to 5-9-1 and 1-4-1 in league action.
The Bulldogs had only four shots in the match, and the RiverHawks took 9. Each team had only one shot in the first 45 minutes of play.
Hearn's goal came on a corner kick by Tera Santistan that beat Northeastern State goalkeeper P.J. Davis on the far post. Davis had two saves in the match.
The RiverHawks just missed tying the match at 78:09 when Sibonet Quinones' shot hit the crossbar and bounced away. Early Villegas took a shot just two minutes later and it was turned away by Bulldogs' goalie Katie Mahoney.
The RiverHawks move out of LSC play Sunday when they host Texas A&M-International Sunday at 1 p.m.
