RiverHawks Blank John Brown

TAHLEQUAH, OKLA. - Northeastern State University defeated John Brown University Tuesday night 1-0 in a women's soccer match played at Doc Wadley Stadium at Gable Field.

The match between the RiverHawks and Golden Eagles was moved from the RiverHawks' pitch due to an unplayable field caused by heavy rains on Monday.

Northeastern State is now 3-3 for the season. The RiverHawks return play Sunday, when they open Lone Star Conference play at home against the University of Central Oklahoma.

The RiverHawks scored the winning goal in the first half at 23:09 when Pryor freshman Rachel Sordahl scored on an assist by Meredith Martin.

Sordah's goal, her seventh of the season, came off a deflection by John Brown goalkeeper Brittany Henderson. It was Northeastern's only shot during the first half of play.

John Brown managed only two shots in the match, both coming in the final 45 minutes of play. The RiverHawks had four shots in the match.
