Sordahl, RiverHawks Kick Tigers
TAHLEQUAH, OKLA. -- Pryor freshman Rachel Sordahl scored her 8th goal of the season to lift the Northeastern State women's soccer team to a 2-1 double overtime victory over East Central University in a Lone Star Conference e match Tuesday at the RiverHawks' pitch.
Sordahl's goal from 8-yards away, among a crowd of Tiger defenders, came on a direct kick from Carina Martinez at the 112: 46 mark of the match.
The victory evens Northeastern State's LSC record at 1-1 and 4-4 for the season. The Tigers are now 0-1 and 3-2-2
The Tigers took a 1-0 lead on Whitney Watts goal at 26:00 of the first period, before the RiverHawks knotted the match at 1-1 on Martinez' goal, her first of the season on a 25-yard shot over the reach of East Central goalkeeper Natalie Wilson.
The RiverHawks resume LSC play on Oct. 2 at Abilene Christian at 2 p.m., followed by a road test at Angelo State on Oct. 4.
