Wooten Signs Eight High School Players

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. --- Northeastern State women’s soccer coach Chase Wooten announced the signing of eight  high school players to a national letter of intent .

Joining the RiverHawks are incoming freshmen Jessica Phillips (Bartlesville), Kirsten Diaz (New Braunfels Texas), Kaili Endres (Oologah), Brittany Pearsal (Pryor), Lindsay Lofton (Skiatook), Sally Mathews (Owasso), Krista Dyess (Broken Arrow), and Ashley Haines (Jenks).

Wooten, who will coach his first RiverHawks soccer team this fall said about his first class “I could not be more excited about my first recruiting class here at Northeastern State.

“We brought in some very athletic and sound soccer players.  I think this group will blend in very well with the talent that is already here and help us grow our program.  I am truly looking forward to August and having the full team to get started with.”

“I have watch Jessy (Phillips) for years and she is a difference maker at forward,” said Wooten.  Great speed and a good finisher.  She should cause teams problems with her pace and work ethic.”

“Kirsten (Diaz) should do well for us in the midfield where she can see the field in front of her and control the tempo.”

Wooten is excited about the signing of Endres, a midfielder “I have been watching Kaili for a while now and she is quite an athletic player.  She gets up and down the field well and has good speed.  She should do a good job for us out wide in the midfield in 2010.”

Wooten, who was looking to add speed to the RiverHawks believes Pearsal fills the bill for NSU. “Brittany has big time speed and is that tough forward that backs typically cannot stand playing against.  She is technically solid and should give good minutes next season up top.”

Looking for a more aggressive attack, Wooten said about one of his latest recruits,

“Lindsay (Lofton) is a good ball winner and very aggressive.  She is a solid defender that mixes it up physically well.”

Adding to that aggressive mold is Mathews, according to Wooten. “Sally (Mathews) is a good defender that can also play a holding mid position.  She is a strong back that is a good ball winner.”

Another tough minded aggressor is Dyess. “Krista is a quality back that can eliminate players on the attack. She is steady and can play at a high level already.”

Haines is considered one of the strongest players Wooten has recruited for the upcoming season and he is expecting big things from the midfielder.

“Ashley should be one of our strongest players in the air that we have had in a while. Big courage on ball winning and can control the pace of a game when the ball is at her foot, said Wooten”
