Soccer Blanks Rangers
ALVA, Okla.--- Northeastern State women's soccer team scored two goals in each half en route to a 4-0 victory over Northwestern State University Friday.
The RiverHawks were in command from the outset, out shooting the Rangers 37-5 for the match and 19-2 in the opening 45 minutes. Northeastern State took 18 shots in the second half.
The victory evens Northeastern State's record at 2-2 as they look ahead to play at Harding University on Tuesday.
Northeastern State goal keepers P.J. Davis and Aubree Gallego made only two saves the entire 90 minutes of play as the Rangers managed only five shots against the RiverHawks' defense.
Early Villegas scored her second goal of the season at the 26:11 mark giving the RiverHawks a quick 1-0 lead.
Freshman Rachel Sordahl made it 2-0 at the 35:59 mark. It was Sordahl's fourth goal the year.
Just six minutes into the second half, Sordahl made it 3-0 on her second unassisted shot. Her goal came at the 59:31 mark.
RiverHawks' Alli Tillemans closed out Northeastern's scoring with a goal at 71:42 for the 4-0 final.
