NSU Now 6th at ULM Event

Updated 7:20 p.m. --- Northeastern State had a tough second round on Monday and now sits in sixth place after firing a 317 (305-317=622) at the ULM Fred Marx Invitational. Every RiverHawk player scored at least one stroke worse than in the opening round. Kelsey Kirkpatrick is NSU's top performer with rounds of 73-76=149 and is tied for 7th overall. Whitney McAteer carded rounds of 75-76=151.

MONROE, La. --- Kelsey Kirkpatrick continued her stellar play by shooting a one-over-par 73 to lead Northeastern State to a third place tie after the first round of the ULM Fred Marx Invitational on Monday. Play is continuing this afternoon with another 18 holes slated.

Kirkpatrick also had a lot of help from teammates Whitney McAteer and Danielle Wright, who carded a 75 and 78, respectively. As a team, NSU shot 307 on the day and is tied with Houston Baptist.

Troy leads the event at 295 followed by host ULM at 306. This is a 54-hole event.

Kirkpatrick, a junior, is tied for third in the individual race. She is three strokes behind the leader, Hayley Lawrence, of Troy. Kirkpatrick had 38 on the front nine, then blistered the course with a one-under 35 on the back nine.

Play will conclude with 18 holes tomorrow Bayou DeSiard Country Club.
