RiverHawks Receive NCAA Nod
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Northeastern State has earned another NCAA tournament bid.
The RiverHawks were awarded the No. 5 seed from the West Region in an announcement released by the NCAA on Monday. The West Regional will be hosted by West Texas A&M and played at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo May 1-3, with the top three teams and top three individuals advancing to the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships May 11-14 at The Meadows in Allendale, Mich.
"This is the 10th time in 13 years NSU has qualified for the NCAA Tournament," said head coach Scott Varner. "Six times we have finished in the top eight in the national tournament with a third and fourth place finish among those."
Tarleton State is the top seed in the West Region. Grand Canyon, St. Edward's, California State-Monterey Bay and NSU round out the top five. The other four teams are: Central Oklahoma, Western Washington, Sonoma State and Nebraska-Omaha. Joanna De Sa Peirera (Incarnate Word), Kendra Whittley (Midwestern State), Mercedes Rios (Dallas Baptist) and Alisa White (West Texas A&M) will be playing as individuals in the regional.
