McAteer, RiverHawks Lead After First Round

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. --- Whitney McAteer fired a one-over-par 73 and Kelsey Kirkpatrick was 2-over to help Northeastern State to a first round score of 303 to lead its annual Women's Golf Classic at Cherry Springs Golf Club.

McAteer was one-over on the front nine and shot even-par on the back. She and Midwestern State's Taylor Klutz are tied for the lead in the 82-person field after 18 holes. Kirkpatrick is tied for 3rd with Incarnate Word's Jessica Cornish.

The RiverHawks will take a five shot lead into Tuesday's final round. MSU had a 308, followed by Incarnate Word (314), Southern Nazarene (319), while Harding and Texas A&M-Commerce are knotted in fifth (324).
