Linksters Fourth at ECU Event

THACKERVILLE, Okla. --- Northeastern State shaved 10 shots off its total from Monday, but failed to make a move on the field in the final round of the Red River Intercollegiate at WinStar Golf Course, hosted by East Central University.

The RiverHawks, who entered the day in fourth place, finished in the same location despite three scores in the 70s.

Tarleton State won the tourney with by 18 shots with a score of 603. West Texas A&M was second, followed by Angelo State (632), Northeastern State (642) and Central Oklahoma (644).

ASU's Raelynn Smith was medalist with her three-under 141. Smith had rounds of 69 and 72 to outdistance Tarleton's Carla Cooper (74-75=149).

Shaunda Petree led the RiverHawks. The sophomore finished in a tie for 17th overall with a 36-hole score of 157. Stephanie Bird tied for 21st with a 160, followed by Katie Miller (T24/162), Liz Cagle (T25/163) and Paola Torres (T51/177).

Winstar will be the host site of next month's Lone Star Conference Tournament.
