McAteer 4th, Team 5th at LSC Championships
THACKERVILLE, Okla. --- Northeastern State freshman Whitney McAteer carded a one-over-par 73 on Monday and sits in a tie for fourth place at the 2010 Lone Star Conference Women's Golf Championships at WinStar Golf Course.
As a team the RiverHawks dropped from third to fifth after the second round despite shaving 12 strokes off its team total from Monday. Northeastern State fired a 309 but still lost ground to the top four teams.
Tarleton State posted a five-over par 293 on Monday to move to the top of the leaderboard. The TexAnns (321-293=614) moved ahead of West Texas A&M (318-297=615) by one stroke at plus-38.
Angelo State (617), Central Oklahoma (626) and Northeastern State (630) rounded out the top five teams' 36-hole scores as the players head into Tuesday’s final round.
ASU’s Raelyn Smith posted a 68 with six birdies to take the individual lead at one-over 145 (77-68). Her round of 68 matched the lowest round score in LSC Championship play, which was set by UCO’s Kelly Callison in 2004.
