RiverHawks Crack Top 10
Northeastern State moved up four spots to No. 8 in this week's USA TODAY ESPN Division II Women's Basketball Top 25 poll.
NSU, 14-1 on the year, returned to the Top 10 for the first time since early 2011. The No. 8 rating is the highest the RiverHawks have been ranked this season. Last year, Northeastern State made it to No. 6 and was 7th on two occasions during ther regular season.
UC-San Diego is the new No. 1 team in the WBCA poll. One of only two unbeaten squads in NCAA Division II women's basketball, UCSD is 16-0 and received 26 first place votes. Rounding out the top five are: Clayton State (GA); Edinboro (PA); Fort Lewis (CO); and Metro State of Denver.
The RiverHawks will face No. 15 Pittsburg State on Wednesday, Jan. 18. The Gorillas are 15-1 and fell five spots after suffering their first setback of the year a week ago at home to Washburn (No. 16).
