RiverHawks Earn Postseason Honors
BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (Mar. 1) --- Northeastern State's Randy Gipson earned his seventh Lone Star Conference North Division Coach of the Year honor tonight as the LSC Postseason Tournament officially got underway.
Gipson, who led the No. 9-ranked RiverHawks to a sterling 23-3 overall record and 12-2 mark in league play, garnered the award for the second consecutive season. He was named Coach of the Year by the LSC in 2000, 2003, 2004, 2005 & 2008 as well.
Taylor Lewis, Broken Arrow sophomore, was recognized as Academic All-LSC and was NSU's lone 1st Team All-LSC North choice. Lewis is majoring in cellular biology and leads the team in scoring heading into tomorrow night's LSC Tournament quarterfinals.
Jasmine Wright, Dallas, Texas junior, was named the LSC North Defensive Player of the Year and also picked up All-Academic accolades. The Lake Highlands High School product was part of a squad that leads the entire conference in most major defensive statistical categories, including allowing opponents to just over 54 points per game. She is a mass communications major at NSU.
Other honorees included Jasmine Webb, Owasso senior, named to the All-LSC North 2nd Team and Cristy Nitz, Dewey junior, was chosen to the LSC North Honorable Mention squad.
