Basketball Duo Honored by LSC
RICHARDSON, Texas --- Northeastern State's Jasmine Webb and Antoine Branch were named players of the week by the Lone Star Conference on Monday.
Webb, a 5-11, Sr., center from Owasso, was the LSC Co-North Defensive Player of the Week for the women. Branch, a 5-11, Sr., guard from Manhattan, N.Y., was the LSC North Offensive Player of the Week on the men's side.
Branch led Northeastern State to a 1-1 week as the RiverHawks improved to 8-10 overall and 3-1 in LSC North action. He scored a career-high 28 points in NSU’s 82-67 home victory over Southeastern Oklahoma on Jan. 19. He then poured through 20 points in a 77-75 road loss at Texas A&M-Commerce. For the week, Branch connected on 43 percent of his shots and was perfect on nine opportunities at the charity stripe.
Webb helped lead the RiverHawks to a 2-0 mark in LSC North action by averaging a double-double (13 points/12 rebounds). She collected a career-high 16 caroms at Texas A&M-Commerce in NSU’s 63-50 win on Jan. 22. For the week, Webb was part of a defensive unit that limited opponents to 40-of-111 shooting (.360), 12-of-37 from behind the arc (.324), while forcing 35 turnovers.
