White Tabbed for LSC Defensive Award
RICHARDSON, Texas --- Northeastern State's Jessica White has been named the Lone Star Conference North Division's Defensive Player of the Week.
White was Northeastern State's best defender in leading the RiverHawks to a pair of impressive wins to improve to 8-3 on the year.
She was chosen to guard two prolific scorers in games versus Texas A&M-Kingsville and Drury. One of the Javelinas top scorers entered the game averaging better than 11 points and was shooting over 45 percent from the floor, but was limited to 1-of-8 from the floor, including 1-of-6 from the arc, for just three points and four turnovers in a 72-51 Northeastern State win.
Against Drury, White and the team held the Lady Panthers' top scorer, who entered averaging 17 points and connecting at better than 58 percent on all her shots, to only eight points on 3-of-9 shooting from the field.
White is a senior guard from Jenks High School and is a three-year letter winner and starter for Northeastern State.
