RiverHawks Care

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. --- Championship Week continues here as the Lone Star Conference Postseason Basketball Tournament. Northeastern State, which bowed out in Wednesday's opening round to 15th-ranked West Texas A&M, joined other league members in a Community Engagement activity for special needs children.

Red Apple Bowling Center hosted the event where LSC student-athletes connected with children who will never have the opportunity to experience collegiate athletics. The bowling lanes were specially equipped with handicapped rails for those who needed to use them. Others rolled the ball along the lanes. Everyone had a great time.

This was the second year the RiverHawks have participated in the Community Engagement activity during Championship Week. Thursday morning also featured the community Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) breakfast where former Kansas Jayhawks coach, and Cameron University mentor Ted Owens addressed the gathering.

The men's Community Engagement activity will be held Friday morning when teams from the Lone Star Conference interact with elementary school students to teach them about the six defining attributes of NCAA Division II student-athletes: sportsmanship, learning, balance, resourcefulness, passion and service.
