Perkins Named Freshman of the Year
BARTLESVILLE, Okla. --- Northeastern State (OK) was well-represented tonight when the Lone Star Conference postseason basketball awards were announced.
Tulsa Hale's Alix Perkins was named the Lone Star North Division's Freshman of the Year in voting of the league's coaches. Perkins averaged better than 11 points per game this year for the RiverHawks in her inaugural campaign. She was among several other Northeastern State standouts honored during the awards banquet, held on the ConocoPhillips campus on the eve of the LSC Basketball Championships.
Jason Jones, a junior forward from Cahors, France, earned First Team All-Lone Star North honors on the men's side. He was joined on the second team by Bartlesville senior guard Ben Rovenstine.
Other women earning honors included Lindsey Sams, senior guard from Garfield, Ark., was selected to the All-LSC North Second Team. For the second time in as many years, Sams was chosen to the All-LSC North Academic team.. Sams won the Academic Player of the Year award a year ago, but was edged out by Central Oklahoma Mallory Markus for this season's highest academic honor.
Jasmine Webb, a sophomore forward from Owasso, was also a Second Team All-LSC North choice, and Cristy Nitz, a Dewey freshman forward, was chosen to the Honorable Mention squad.

Northeastern State's women enter the LSC Tournament tomorrow (Wednesday) as the No. 4 seed from the North Division and will face No. 15-ranked West Texas A&M at 2:30 p.m. at Bruin Field House in the quarterfinal round.
