RiverHawks Smother North Alabama

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. --- Randy Gipson's teams have always played great defense. On Saturday, it may have been one of his teams' greatest efforts as Northeastern State held North Alabama to nine percent shooting in the final half as the RiverHawks routed North Alabama, 78-39, in the second round of the Disney East Coast Classic at The Milk House.

Northeastern State evened its record to 1-1, while UNA remained winless at 0-2.

Alix Perkins and Sarah Millar scored 14 points apiece. But, it was the defense that shined for the RiverHawks. North Alabama, which trailed 32-27 at halftime, went into a shooting drought that saw just three field goals on 32 attempts in the final stana.

On the other hand, the RiverHawks were sharpshooters, connecting on 30-of-55 shots on the day, including 13-of-25 from behind the arc.
