RiverHawks Travel to Tarleton State

 

Stephenville, Texas - Northeastern State women will venture into Texas Thursday night when they travel to Stephenville to play the undefeated Tarleton State TexAnns at  Wisdom Gym. Tip-off is 6 p.m.

It will be the second Lone Star Conference crossover game for both schools. The RiverHawks (6-2) defeated Midwestern State 56-51 and Tarleton State (6-0) crushed No. 19 ranked University of Central Oklahoma 85-55 Tuesday night.

The 6-0 start is the best start for a TexAnn team under head coach Ronnie Hearne. Tarleton State is scoring 83.5 points a game and is holding the opposition to just 44.3 points a game.

The TexAnns are led by JoAnne Jones, 6-foot senior post, who is averaging 12.2 points and 6.3 rebounds. Jones is followed by Tori Skarake, 5-9 sophomore forward, in scoring with a 10.8 average and 6.3 boards per game.

Other starters for the TexAnns are Brittnie Haley, 5-11 junior forward, who is averaging 9.3 points and 6.8 rebounds; Sonya Sundberg, 5-5 junior guard, who is averaging 9.7 points and Shelby Adamson, 5-6 sophomore guard, who is averaging 8.8 points. Morgan Stehling, 5-9, sophomore forward, who comes off the bench is averaging 9.7 points.

The Riverhawks enter the Tarleton State clash with a 64.9 point scoring average and defensively the opposition is scoring only 54.6 points a game.

Jasmine Webb leads Northeastern State in scoring with a 12.3 average and is the top rebounder with 4.9 boards per game. Alix Perkins is averaging 9.4 points and 2.9 boards; Cristy Nitz is scoring 8.4 points a game followed by Sarah Millar at 5.6 and Kendra Dean at 5.5 points an outing.

The two teams have played one common opponent University Texas-Permian Basin. The RiverHawks defeated UTPB 64-43 and Tarleton rolled to a 64-38 win.
