RiverHawks Go On Road to Play Southeastern State

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - Northeastern State will attempt to make it a sweep against Southeastern State Wednesday night in Durant and remain in a tie with the University of Central Oklahoma in the Lone Star Conference North Division standings.

The RiverHawks and UCO enter Wednesday night's game deadlocked at 6-1 in the North Division. UCO plays at Southwestern State.

Northeastern State head coach Randy Gipson will also be going for victory No. 200 as the RiverHawks head coach. Gipson is currently 199-108 in 12 years at Northeastern State and is 489-185 in 21 years of collegiate coaching.

Northeastern State is 18-5 overall and has won15 of its last 18 games and will be going after its third straight win after sweeping back-to-back  games against Texas A&M-Commerce, 67-49 and 76-59. Southeastern State currently is third in the North race at 6-2 and 11-9 overall.

The Savage Storm is coming off an 82-73 win over East Central University in which Jessica Hesse came off the bench to score a career high 21 points. Hesse was among five Southeastern players to score in double figures. Hesse was followed by Kecee Russell with 15 points, Elizabeth Dean 13, Nikki Nester 11 and Destiny Brown with 10. Brown also pulled down 10 rebounds for a double-double.

In the first meeting between the two schools the RiverHawks grabbed a 77-43 victory at Jack Dobbins Field House with Jasmine Webb scoring 16 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. Webb leads the RiverHawks in scoring with an 11.9 scoring average and 6.0 rebounds per game.

Northeastern State enters the Southeastern State contest averaging 67 points on offense and giving up just 55.8 points, No. 1 in the LSC North Division in points allowed.

The Savage Storm is scoring 78.6 points a game, behind Destiny Brown, the pre-season LSC North Division Player of the Year, with a 13.9 scoring average. Kacey Russell is scoring 13 points a game and is the Savage Storm's top rebounder with a 9.3 average, No. 2 in the Lone Star Conference.

Defensively Southeastern State is giving up 68.4 points a game.

Following the Southeastern State game, Northeastern State returns home Saturday to host East Central University in a 2 p.m. Lone Star Conference clash at Jack Dobbins Field House.
