Storm Sweep Series
TAHLEQUAH, Okla --- Northeastern State saw its 2011 softball season come to a close on Saturday as Southeastern Oklahoma rolled to a 5-0 shutout in Lone Star Conference North Division action.
The RiverHawks ended the year at 18-28 overall and 6-12 in league play. SOSU improved to 36-17 and 13-5 while advancing to next week's LSC Tournament in Durant.
Audra Rhudy picked up all three wins for the Savage Storm. She finished the series by tossing a two-hitter and fanned five to run her record in the circle to 20-6.
Cayce Coleman (11-14) suffered the loss for the RiverHawks with a four-stikeout performance.
Coleman and Lisa Ripperger each singled for NSU in the loss.
Southeastern scored only once in the first on two hits and two Northeastern State errors. The damage could have been much worse but Shayla Bullard gunned down Lindsey Lacy at home after catching a fly ball for the final out of the inning.
However, SOSU erupted for three runs in the third to put the game out of reach when Christa Johnson blasted a 3-run homer to center field, her ninth of the season. Jeana Keys had a solo shot for SE in the 7th to account for the other run.
