RiverHawks Split With Southeastern State
DURANT, Okla. – Northeastern State gained a split with Southeastern State in Lone Star Conference play Saturday afternoon at the Southeastern Softball Complex.
The RiverHawks took the night cap in a pitcher’s duel winning 2-1 while losing the opener 19-3 in five innings.
Northeastern State’s Cayce Coleman held the Savage Storm to just two base hits in collecting her 8th win of the season against 10 defeats in the second game. Coleman struck out four and walked just one in going the distance in the circle.
Southeastern held a 1-0 lead after six innings before the RiverHawks struck for two runs in the seventh to get the win. Kelsi Hilderbrandt led the RiverHawks hitting attack with a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, while Rachel Tunrer had a 2-run RBI double in the seventh inning.
In the opener the Savage Storm pounded out 16 hits, with Southeastern scoring 2 in the first, 5 in the second and 9 in the third. The Storm then scored 3 more in the fourth. NSU scored 2 in the third and 1 in the fourth.
