RiverHawks Picked 5th in LSC North Division
TAHLEQUAH, Okla.-- Northeastern State University is expected to finish fifth in the Lone Star Conference North Division softball race, according to a vote of conference coaches, sports information directors and media representatives.
The RiverHawks received 38 votes to tie with Southwestern State for fifth place, with East Central receiving 37 for seventh place.
Midwestern State is favored to win the Lone Star Conference North Division championship. The Mustangs received eight first place votes on the 17 ballots.
Midwestern State, who posted a 31-17 overall record and 13-9 league record last season totaled 99 points in the poll. The Mustangs have won three North Division titles and two conferences championships in the program's six year history.
Southeastern State the defending LSC North Division champion placed second with 95 points, received 6 first place votes. Central Oklahoma was third with 92 points and 3 first place votes. Cameron was fourth with 77 points, followed by Northeastern State, Southwestern State and East Central.
Southeastern's Erika Bernal was selected the LSC North Division Preseason Player of the Year. Cameron's Carrie Harvey was named the LSC North Division Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
