NSU Climbs to No. 15

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- Northeastern State jumped four spots to No. 15 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Assocation of America (NSCAA) poll Tuesday.

The RiverHawks, 7-0-1, were 19th a week ago after dropping out of the poll despite a 1-1 draw against Texas A&M-International. However, NSU remains one of just six teams in the Top 25 that still hasn't lost in 2011.

Fort Lewis, 10-0, took the top spot away from Rollins (Fla.) after spending several weeks at No. 2. Franklin Pierce now is second, followed by Simon Fraser, Northern Kentucky and Rollins who round out the Top 5.

Also, Northeastern State is now the No. 3 team in the South Central Region, which represents another move up in that poll. Midwestern State, 7-1-0, and Incarnate Word, 7-1-1, are just ahead of the RiverHawks in the regional ranking. NSU will host UIW, ranked No. 9 nationally, on Friday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. before taking on MSU, the nation's No. 7 squad, on Friday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. in Wichita Falls, Texas.
