HAYS, Kan. --- Fort Hays State scored a pair of goals in the final 31 minutes and handed Northeastern State a 2-1 loss here Sunday afternoon.
The RiverHawks fell to 9-5-3 on the year with a single match remaining next Friday at Incarnate Word. FHSU improved to 10-4-2 and salvaged a split in the two game series.
Bobby Behrens gave NSU an early 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal just 7:16 into the match. However, the RiverHawks were unable to protect the edge.
Travis Patzner headed in the Tigers' first goal off a free kick to tie the match at 1-all in the 60th minute. The game-winner came at 71:18 when Adrian Ramirez booted in a free kick from 25 yards out into the right corner.
Northeastern State had 15 shots and limited the Tigers to only three shots on goal despite the loss.
