TAHLEQUAH, Okla. --- The Northeastern State University men's soccer team has announced its captain for the 2011 season. Michael Wilson (Sr./D), will serve as team captain for the RiverHawks men’s soccer team.
Wilson (Elgin, Scotland/Northern Oklahoma College) is returning to the RiverHawks for his third season. He started 15 games at Center Back during the 2010 season. Wilson tallied four points on two goals this past season, one being the game winner over Colorado State-Pueblo. He helped the RiverHawks defense post seven shutouts in his tenure with the program.
While at Northern Oklahoma College – Tonkawa, Wilson played in all 20 games during his first collegiate season earning eight points on four goals.
“Michael will be a solid leader for our team this season” says head men’s coach Rob Czlonka. “What impressed me was the fact that just about everyone on our team singled him out for this leadership position. It seems to me that he has been able to earn the team's respect and I’m confident he will continue working to keep it.”
