Soccer Edges Newman

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. --- Bo Evans converted a corner kick in the first half and that's all the RiverHawks need to post a 1-0 shutout victory over Newman here Sunday afternoon.

The win lifted Northeastern State's overall record to 5-3 on the season. Newman fell to 2-6.

Evans surged above the Jets' defense for a header goal from Zach Schmoker from the right corner that provided the game's only goal. The RiverHawks controlled much of the contest and out-shot Newman, 20 to 9.

Matt Murrell recorded five saves for Northeastern State, who will next play at Incarnate Word on Saturday.
