Greyhounds Prevail

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. --- Kal Herbert scored a pair of goals in a 52-second span late in the first half to lead Eastern New Mexico past Northeastern State on Friday. The 4-1 loss to ENMU spoiled the RiverHawks' Lone Star Conference opener as the team fell to 4-2 and 1-1. The Greyhounds improved to 7-1 and 2-0.

Josue Garcia scored for Northeastern State in the 13th minute on an unassisted goal for a 1-0 lead. However, Eishu Kanemitsu tied the match 14 minutes later on a give-and-go from teammate Emerson Rodrigues.

Neither team threatened much the remainder of the half, until Herbert's two tallies put ENMU ahead for good in the 44th and 45th minutes.

Diego Santos added an insurance goal for the Greyhounds early in the second half to put the game away.

Northeastern State will take on West Texas A&M on Sunday afternoon at the RiverHawks Pitch.
