West Texas A&M Upends RiverHawks
CANYON, Texas - Northeastern State fell to No. 11-ranked West Texas A&M in a Lone Star Conference men's soccer match Friday 2-1 at the Buffaloes pitch.
With the win, the Buffaloes improve to 11-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 LSC, while the RiverHawks fall to 6-5-0 and 0-2 in the LSC..
West Texas' Nicki Nielsen scored the first goal on a penalty kick in the fourth minute off of a Northeastern foul in the goalkeeper box. Dominic Furness scored the second Buffalo goal of the half after going one-on-one with Northeastern goalkeeper Matthew Murrell in the 20th minute.
The Riverhawks cut into the Buffs lead in the second half on a goal by Andre' Hernandez, making it 2-1 at 69:08 on an assist by Yovany Castillo. The Hernandez shot bounced off the left post.
Northeastern resumes LSC play aganst Eastern New Mexico on Sunday at 1 p.m. on the Greyhounds pitch.
