RiverHawks Lose Two
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS --- Northeastern State men's soccer team traveled to the campus of Midwestern State University over the weekend to play the Regis University Rangers and the Metro State Roadrunners, both located in Denver, Colo.
The result was two losses for Northeastern State as the Rangers outshot the RiverHawks 27-12 to capture a 2-0 victory Friday and on Sunday afternoon the Roadrunners won 4-1.
Northeastern State is now 2-2 for the season and returns home following the Texas road trip to play John Brown University Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the RiverHawks Soccer Complex.
Regis scored one goal in each half of play on Friday against the RiverHawks on goals by Kyle Emge and Nathan Kafer.
On Sunday afternoon 23rd ranked Metro State took a 3-0 lead in the first half on goals by Scott Grode, Steven Emory and Ri Armstrong.
The final Metro State goal came on an own goal by the RiverHawks in the second half.
The Roadrunners' Grode scored the first goal just 29 seconds into the game off a turnover by the RiverHawks. In the 30th minute Emory put the ball into the net on a header from Tyler Hambrick for a 2-0 lead.
Just a minute later Metro made it 3-0 when Armstrong went one-on-one with RiverHawks' goalie Brendon Lindsay. Lindsay stopped the first shot, but Armstrong put the rebound past Lindsay.
At the 54th minute the RiverHawks kicked the ball into their own net for an own goal for a 4-0 Roadrunners advantage.
The RiverHawks got on the scoreboard four minutes later when Harrison Kutz scored off Zach Schmoker's corner kick.
