Midwestern Tames RiverHawks

 

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State scored three first-half goals en route to a 4-1 victory over Northeastern State Sunday afternoon in a Lone Star Conference men's match on the Mustangs pitch.

The RiverHawks fall to 8-8 for the season and 0-4 in LSC play. Midwestern State improves to 13-1-3 and 4-0-2 in the LSC.

Tyler Murphy and Nick Auditore, who scored two goals, gave the Mustangs a 3-0 advantage at the end of the first half.

Northeastern State's only goal of the match came at 82:23 when Alex Novoa scored off a corner kick from Zach Schmoker.

The Mustangs closed out their scoring at 87:41 when Casey Hibbs scored on a cross from the right wing by Bryce Taylor.

RiverHawks goalkeeper Matt Murrell made 11 saves in the match, while Mustangs keeper
Raul Herrera had only 1 save as the RiverHawks took just four shots and the Mustangs 31.

The RiverHawks resume action Tuesday night when they visit Oral Roberts University at 7 p.m. in Tulsa.
