RiverHawks Lead Home Event

MUSKOGEE, Okla. --- Northeastern State and Arkansas-Fort Smith battled for identical scores during the first two rounds of the 13th Annual NSU Men's Golf Classic at Muskogee Country Club Monday.

The RiverHawks and Lions had rounds of 286-283=569 to lead the 19-team field after the opening day. Central Oklahoma is just one shot back in third at 570. Washburn, Our Lady of the Lake and Dallas Baptist all are tied for fourth at 579 with 18 holes to play.

Rogers State's Preston Bartley leads the individual race after firing a tournament-record 65 over his first 18 holes. Bartley shot 70 on his final 18 and leads UAFS's Matt McKown by three strokes. NSU's Casey Nelson is four shots back at 139, along with Washburn's Nate Hoeflin and UCO's Josh Creel.

Other NSU scores included Kyle Fouts (T12/143), Matt Vineer (T26/146), Brad Hager (T33/147) and Zach Tucker (T33/147). Jacob Bartel (146), Tyler Osburn (152), Josh Strimple (152) and Kyle Menie (159) are playing as medalists in the 101-player field.
