Buffs Beat RiverHawks, Stay Unbeaten
SUMMARY
Northeastern State's bid to hand West Texas A&M its first defeat came up short on Monday night as the Buffaloes held off the scrappy RiverHawks, 65-53, in Lone Star Conference crossover action. Northeastern State fell to 5-6 overall, while WTAMU improved to 11-0.
HIGHLIGHTS
- West Texas A&M came out firing on all cylinders and led 37-19 at halftime
- Northeastern State scored the first 9 points in the 2nd half to pull within 37-28
- The RiverHawks kept its rally alive and got as close as 5 (55-50) with 5:40 left
- Buffaloes closed out the game on a 10-3 run to preserve the victory
- Dominique Gaines had a team-high 15 points for Northeastern State
- Antoine Branch was 4-of-6 from behind the arc and scored 14
- Jermaine Bransford added 10
- Joe Mincey took game-high scoring honors with 20 for the Buffs

Northeastern State will be idle until Monday, Jan. 3, when it travels to Russellville to meet Arkansas Tech at 7 p.m.
