RiverHawks Meet Hillsdale College
TAHLEQUAH - Northeastern State will seek to rebound from a Lone Star Conference crossover loss to Tarleton State Tuesday night when the RiverHawks step out of conference play to battle Hillsdale Baptist College at Jack Dobbins Field House. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
The RiverHawks enter the game with a 2-3 record while the Saints in their last outing fell to Oklahoma Wesleyan University 95-63.
The Saints are a sophomore and junior dominated squad with no seniors listed on their roster.
Northeastern State enters the Hillsdale clash with a 58.8 scoring average while allowing the opposition just 54.6 points a game.
Marlon Burnett leads the RiverHawks in scoring with a16.2 scoring average. He is shooting at a 51.8 percent clip from the field.
Pre-season All-American candidate Jason Jones is second in scoring for the RiverHawks averaging 14.8 points. The senior post is shooting 52.4 percent from the field.
Jones is the RiverHawks leading rebounder pulling down 7.8 boards per game. He has collected 39 rebounds in five games. Jones is also the RiverHawks leading free throw shooter connecting on 23-of-28 attempts for 82.1 percent.
Junior college transfer Antoine Branch from Coffeyville Community College continues to score in double-figures for the RiverHawks. Branch is averaging 11.4 points and is connecting on 43.6 percent of his shots. Branch is NSU's leading 3-point shooter, canning 12-of-26.
Following the Hillsdale game, the RiverHawks return to Lone Star Conference play with a crossover game against Texas A&M-Kingsville Thursday night at Jack Dobbins Field House. Tip-off is 8 p.m.
The RiverHawks then battle Missouri Southern University Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is 4 p.m.
