RiverHawks on Road to Play East Central on Saturday

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. --   Northeastern State will be going after its seventh consecutive victory Saturday afternoon at Ada, when the RiverHawks visit the Kerr Activities Center to play the East Central Tigers in a Lone Star Conference North Division clash. Tip-off is 4 p.m.

The RiverHawks are coming off a 45-40 win over Southeastern State on Wednesday night winning its 10th in their last 12 games. Northeastern State enters the East Central clash with a 12-5 overall record and sit atop the LSC North Division standings at 3-0 tied with Central Oklahoma and Texas A&M-Commerce.

East Central is coming off a 101-83 loss to Texas A&M-Commerce for their seventh consecutive loss to fall to 5-11 and 0-2. The Tigers played without injured starters Wayne Andrews and Dontae Flaggs.Their status for the Northeastern State game is unclear.

If Andrews and Flaggs are not available for the Northeastern State game, the Tigers will be without 26 points of offensive production. Andrews averages 14.3 points and Flaggs 12.1 points a game.

Bobby McAdoo, 6-4 freshman guard, came off the bench at Commerce to lead the Tigers scoring with 18 points as he sank 7-of-12 from the field and grabbed five rebounds

Eric Allen, 6-5 senior guard/forward, who was held to 3 points by A&M-Commerce, is East Central's leading point producer with a 20.8 scoring average and leading rebounder with 7.3 boards a contest. Maurice Abraham, 6-2 junior guard, a transfer from Clarendon Junior College, follows with a 14.6 scoring average.

 Darby Denarius, 6-2 junior guard, a transfer from  Brown Mackie Junior College, scored 9 points at Commerce, is averaging 10.1 points an outing.

Northeastern State enters the East Central clash as the No. 2 defensive club in the Lone Star Conference allowing the opposition with only 57.7 points a game. Offensively the Riverhawks are scoring 67.8 points a game.

Dominique Gaines, who was selected the LSC North Division Offenisve Player of the Week last week, scored 14 points in the Southeastern win, leads the RiverHawks in scoring with 18.3 points.

Jason Jones, who scored 16 in the Southeastern game to lead the RiverHawks, is averaging 15.1 points and 8.6 rebounds to lead the squad.

Marlon Burnett is scoring 12.6 points and Antoine Branch 10.8 points a contest. In the Southeastern game Burnett and Branch were held to 2 and 3 points respectively.

Following the ECU game, the RiverHawks will travel to Wichita Falls, Texas to play the 14th ranked Midwestern State Mustangs on Monday.
