RiverHawks Fall to Central Oklahoma

EDMOND, Okla. -  Northeastern State could never recover from Central Oklahoma's first half 3-point blitz  and rolled to an 84-50 Lone Star Conference North Division victory Monday night at Hamilton Field House.

The Bronchos drained 17-of-34 from behind the 3-point line (50 percent) led by Eric Cazenave's 17-point output. UCO shot 32-of-65 from the field while Northeastern State was 16-of-54 from the field for just a 29.6 shooting night.

The Bronchos Dauntae Williams had a triple-double, the first for UJCO in18 years as he scored 10 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and had 10 assists. Chris Rhymes added 16 points with Tyler Phillips scoring 13, and Shane Carroll 12.

The RiverHawks fall to 13-7 for the season and 4-1 in North Division play while the Bronchos go to 17-4 and remain unbeaten in North Division play at 6-0 to sit atop the LSC North Division standings.

Jason Jones led NSU's scoring with 14 points and Dominique Gaines added 12.

It was UCO's 13th straight victory as the Bronchos now lead the all-time series 80-48 that dates back to the 1924-25 season.

The RiverHawks trailed by as many as 35 points in the second half 82-47 with 1:50 remaining in the contest. Northeastern State was no closer than 23 points in the final 20 minutes of play.

The Bronchos jumped out to an 18 point lead in the opening 20 minutes of play before the RiverHawks began slicing into the UCO lead to 10 points 38-28 at the intermission.

UCO was red-hot from behind the arc as they drained 9-of-18 attempts as 21 of their first 25 points came on 3-point shots. The Bronchos were 14-of-33 from the field in the first half for 42 percent while the RiverHawks were 9-of-26 for 34 percent, led by Jones' 9 points.

Northeastern State held a 4-point lead at the 18-33 mark, before the Bronchos began draining 3-point shots to take the lead. Rhymes led the way for UCO with 10 points.

Northeastern State returns to LSC North Division play Wednesday night against Texas A&M -Commerce at Jack Dobbins Field House. Game time is 8 p.m.
