RiverHawks Open LSC Play at Tarleton

 

STEPHENVILLE, Texas --- Northeastern State will play its first Lone Star Conference crossover game Thursday night when the RiverHawks travel to Stephenville, Texas, to play rival Tarleton State at Wisdom Gym. Tip-off is 8 p.m.

The RiverHawks enter the Tarleton State clash with a 2-2 record while the Texans are 4-1 after sustaining its first loss of the season Tuesday night in a LSC crossover game with the University of Central Oklahoma. The Texans led by 12 points 52-40 with 14:21 left in the game only to lose 76-72 to the Bronchos.

The Texans are averaging 73 points a game and allowing just 57.4 to the opposition.

Henry Corin, 5-11 junior guard leads the Texans in scoring with a 16.2 average and is followed by Jeremiah Wilson, 6-8 senior forward who is scoring at a 11.2 clip. He leads the Texans in rebounding with 8.0 boards per game.

Effran Bryant, 5-6 senior guard is averaging 10 points a game and is Tarleton State's top 3-point shooter with 13 treys (2.6 per game).

Devon Hill, 6-4 junior guard and Donta Smith, 6-4 junior forward are averaging 8.4 and 8.0 points per game.  Smith is pulling down 7.6 rebounds a contest. He has 40 in five games.

Northeastern State enters the Tarleton State clash with 61.8 scoring average while holding the opposition to 53 points an outing.

 The RiverHawks' scoring is led by Marlon Burnett, who is averaging 19.0 points an outing. Burnett has led the RiverHawks in scoring in their past three games scoring 16, 22 and 24 points.

Following Burnett in the scoring is Jason Jones at 13.8 and Antoine Branch at 12.8. Jones leads the RiverHawks in rebounding with 31 on the year for 7.8 per game. Branch leads Northeastern State in 3-point shooting with 11 on the season, an average of 2.8 per game.
