RiverHawks Tabbed Fifth in North Division Race

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Northeastern State is expected to finish fifth in the Lone Star Conference North Division, according to the LSC men’s basketball preseason poll announced Tuesday.

The Riverhawks received 79 total points in a poll of conference sports information directors, coaches and media representatives.

Northeastern State returns one starter off last season’s 11-16 team which includes Division II Preseason All-American Jason Jones, 6-8 post player from Cahors, France.

Central Oklahoma is the preseason favorite to three-peat as the North Division champion. The Bronchos received 18 first place votes and 138 total points.

Texas A&M-Commerce was second in the poll with two first-place nods and 113 points. Cameron was third with 81 points to edge Southwestern State in fourth with 80 and Northeastern State in fifth with 79. Rounding out the poll was Southeastern State sixth with 37 and East Central seventh with 32.
