Tyler Mitchell, 6-4, 180-pound sophomore redshirt guard from
Tulsa, is the son
of Joe & Marla Mitchell.
Mitchell an accounting major, is a transfer from the University
of Ozarks, where
he averaged 7.0 points per game and four rebounds his
freshman season. He was
named to the American Southwest Conference All-Freshman team.
He missed last
season due to a broken wrist.
A graduate of Bishop Kelley High School where he played
for Danny Limes,
Mitchell was instrumental in leading the Comets to establishing a
school record
18 consecutive wins and No. 1 ranking his junior season. The
Comets finished
with a 23-5 record.
His final season at Bishop Kelley, Mitchell averaged 15.7 points
as the Comets
posted a 19-7 record. He was named to the Oklahoma Coaches
Basketball Coaches
All-State team and was a Jim Thorpe All-Star selection.
Mitchell is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes
and SAAC. His sister
Adrieme played softball at Missouri State University in
Springfield.
