2011 Signees Announced

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (Feb. 7) --- Northeastern State has signed a total of 36 players who will join the RiverHawks for the 2011 football campaign.

Head coach Kenny Evans brought in 17 mid-term transfers and inked 19 during the National Letter of Intent signing period, which began last Wednesday.

"These 36 student-athletes that have signed with Northesatern State since the end of the 2010 season were heavily recruited and can definitely help us move more prominently into the national spotlight," said Evans, whose team finished last year with a 6-5 mark and were named co-champions in the Lone Star North at 5-1. "With 17 returning starters and 90 returning players, the addition of these young men gives us numbers and elevates our talent to a level we haven't seen here in my three years.

"I am extremely excited about where our program is and where it is going."

Evans was quick to point out that the recruiting cycle has not ended. Instead, "recruiting is a year-round process and we will continue to evaluate players to add into our program. We likely will add more in the coming days," he said.

NSU will open an 11-game slate on Aug. 27 at home against Bacone. The RiverHawks will be an independent member of NCAA Division II next season and will join the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) in 2012.
