AD Extends Tailgate Invitation

Dear RiverHawks' Family and Fans:

We are a month into our 2010-2011 athletic season at Northeastern State and our coaches and student-athletes are doing a great job representing our great institution. Many of our programs are already in action -- football, women's & men's soccer, tennis and women's and men's golf -- and basketball is set to begin preseason drills in mid-October.

When I accepted the position as Director of Athletics, I said the major reason I came to Tahlequah was due to the unbridled passion our fans, alumni, community members, faculty, staff and students have for Northeastern State. The commitment shown to our programs by many of you is unparalleled and I sincerely appreciate the support you give to the RiverHawks each year.

Many of you donate dollars to our Athletic programs, while some show support as true fans of the RiverHawks; attending home and away games at every opportunity. No matter how you choose to support RiverHawk Athletics, your commitment does not go unnoticed.

We are enjoying a banner year in terms of corporate sponsorship for our teams, coaches and student-athletes. Fund-raising has increased dramatically despite the lean economic times we face. Once again, this shows the true dedication of the RiverHawks' faithful.

To show our gratitude for your loyalty and commitment, I would like to personally invite you to be my guest by joining me, our Athletics staff, coaches and student-athletes on Saturday, Oct. 2, as we host a "Community Tailgate Meet & Greet" at Doc Wadley Stadium prior to our football game against West Texas A&M. Most of our teams, coaches and student-athletes included, will be attending. We will have free hot dogs, chips and drinks beginning at 10 a.m. in the North Parking Lot at the stadium.

Hopefully, you can attend this event, learn more about your RiverHawks, see where we are heading with major projects on the horizon, and experience how you are making a difference at Northeastern State.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Konya
